Playgroup
We went to playgroup yesterday & although Ollie almost got kicked in the face, we had a blast. The playgroup meets about once a month. Yesterday, only 4 moms could make it: Kim with Lily & Isaiah, Constance with Hunter, Julianne with Brady & Landon and myself with Oliver. The kids played while we chatted. Here is a picture of the kids. Oliver decided he'd rather stand!

Holy cats! He's 7 months old.
I can't believe my little bity baby is 7 months old already. I know some of you are rolling your eyes saying, "He's only 7 months old," but it has gone by so quickly. Soon he will take his first steps and say his first words. Then he'll run and jump and play. He'll be asking me to bake him cookies and take him to the park; he'll have his first day of kindergarten and his first day of college. It's hard to think that he's halfway through his first year. What a blessing he has been to me!
This morning was bittersweet. Yesterday I decided to rearrange his room. The head of his crib was placed on the wall adjacent to our bathroom. I thought that hearing Bob getting ready for work in the morning was waking him up so brilliant super mama decided to rearrange the furniture. Bedtime went as usual and he woke at 4:45 to eat. I laid him back down about 5:15 and went back to bed. Seemed like a typical day, right? WRONG! Next thing I knew he was crying. I left him to see if he'd put himself to sleep but soon he was screaming bloody murder. I went in and soothed him back to sleep. I went back to bed. Again, I woke to screaming baby. I waited. I went in and picked him up. He instantly fell back asleep. I rocked him until he stopped sniffling and laid him back down. A few minutes later, you guess it, he was howling. This time I got him and sat down in the glider. I was in it for the long haul. Eventually we ended up in my bed. It was so sweet. He cuddled into me and we went to sleep. Ahh. I love being a mom.
One thing Ollie has started to do is to stand up and hold on to things. I took a few pictures of him. He tries to pull up but if he's flat bottomed he can't so I give him a boost. He is super cute and gnaws on whatever is near.

My Best Lesson
So I've realized that becoming a mom changes you. It's not just a little change. It's huge. My heart has realized a love that I had never imagined. I love my son. I love him so much it hurts. Before I gave birth, I prayed fervently that God would help me understand how much he loves me. Now I can sit and think about it and I still can't imagine.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son...
I have a son. I'm not giving him up for anyone on this earth. Forget it! It's hard to think that God loved me enough to allow his son to die for me. He didn't just give up his son for someone who loved him and honored him. He gave up his son for a bunch of ungrateful sinners. I don't deserve it. I can see my sin. I can see just how wretched I am. I have broken darn near every commandment. In saying that, I know that God is amazing. He loved me enough to send his son to take my place so that I can spend eternity with him. Wow! Maybe I'll get it when I get there!

More 6 month pics
Here are some more of Ollie's 6 month pictures. None of these have been edited. SO don't mind the drool on the chin or the spots on his shirt. These are the real deal. We are still trying to get some pictures with Bob but he has been crazy busy and we can't seem to work it in. So until then...

Bath Time with Daddy
Bob get Ollie ready for bed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Although I love bedtime, it's nice to have a break. Our bedtime routine includes reading time, bath time, lotion, meds and getting dressed. Then we pray as a family and I nurse Ollie before I lay him down. He really loves it. His favorite is bath time. I think he enjoys the water but also he knows his wonderful bed is coming! Bob does bath time a little different than I do. It gets a little wilder and Ollie get a little wetter so to speak. They seem to have a great time together!
Play
Ollie gets to enjoy playing pretty much all day long. He spends time sitting or lying on the floor with toys, standing in his exersaucer or jumperoo, or sitting on my lap. Here are a few pictures from today. He is really getting active. The poor guy wants to be mobile but he just isn't.

Walks
Ollie & I go for lots of walks. We try to go out every day. Lyle & Gertie love it. It's been a bit challenging because the dogs want to yank & pull constantly but they are getting better.
We enjoy the fresh air and the sunshine. We listen to the birds chirp & the cars drive by. We see the blue sky, the green grass, the white clouds. We talk about what we see & watch the nature around us. This is one of the ways ollie is already learning about God, our Creator. He can hear & see & smell his creation. For even here in Small Town, NC we can see the wonder of all he has made.
And sometimes we use this time to catch up on our Zs!

Ahhh, Sweet iPhone
It's a bit ironic that I'm going to write about the new application I bought for my iPhone from my laptop but hey it's what I have on right now. I've discovered that my greatest treasure right now (not counting Jesus, Bob, Ollie, or my dogs) is my iPhone. I love it! Bob talked me into it back in July. I agreed, although I really thought it was more for him. I believe I probably use mine more.
Recently, I bought the best new application. It's called Blogpress. It rocks. I can now upload pictures and new posts to my blog. It's great. No more waiting till Ollie goes down for a nap to post! I can do it while I'm nursing him before he goes down and save his sleep time for more important things, like laundry!

Milestone
So Ollie reached another milestone! On Wednesday, we were reading a book together. He kept trying to put it in his mouth so I raised it higher. We were seated on the floor. He wanted it so bad that he grabbed it & stood up!

6 month check up
Oliver had his six month check up today. We got up & had to rush out to make his 9 o'clock appointment. I filled out a developmental questionaire & found out that Ollie's right on schedule.
He was weighed & measured. Here are his stats:
Weight: 17lbs 14 1/2 oz, 55%
Height: 27 7/8 inches, 88.9%
Head: 17 1/4 inches, 45%
I'm quite pleased with his head. The poor kid has his daddy's height with my head. For those of you who forgot, his head was in the tenth percentile at his 2 month checkup.
The doctor checked him out & said he looks great! They Ollie got the dreaded shots. He had two sticks & one orally. He's been a fussy Gus. Poor baby!

Play Group
You'll have to forgive me, this week has been crazy busy and I'm a bit behind on blogging. We've had a great week but it has been full to the brim. Yesterday, we had play group at Julianne's. Our play group consists of 9 moms, 5 three & 4 year olds, 1 six month old, 1 five month old & 2 newborns. It can get wild.
We all collaborated and had a delicious lunch. My favorite was the homemade rolls Julianne made. I probably ate six. So much for my figure. After lunch, the kids played out in a kiddie pool. It was 82 degrees out. Ollie tried it out but I think he'd rather be in the tub for now.

First Day at the Park
Ollie had his first day at the park on Friday. We went with Emily and her two kids, Tyler & Josh. We played for a while & even had a picnic lunch. Ollie seemed to really love the swing. We were there from about 11 till 1. It was 72 degrees but the wind was blowing so I had to dress Oliver pretty warm. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Meet Connor
Ollie has a friend from church named Connor. And although Sarah and I's due dates were only 6 days apart, Ollie is almost a month older. You couldn't tell by looking at the pictures though. Connor is a BIG boy! Connor was born on September 22 and weighed 9 lbs! Ollie was born on August 27 and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz.
