Traveling

On Thursday, July 23, Ollie & I set out quite early. Bob loaded the car & we were on the road by 6:15. I had to wake Ollie up.

We arrived at the airport & got through security in record time. RDU now has a family lane. People were still rude as ever though. They stood and watched me try to put my stroller on the belt with my 24lb kid on my hip. The security lady just continued to tell me I was doing it wrong without giving further instruction or help. Finally a man a couple people behind me, helped. Thank goodness!

The flight was uneventful & Ollie did a great job. He played, snacked & slept. We were greeted by the baggage claim by my dad & niece, Isabella. We ate lunch & ran a ton of errands.

On the way home, we stopped at the college to see mom doing her capstone for her Master's degree. Ollie had fun running around & even made a new friend, Jack. Jack did not, however, appreciate the sloppy kiss Ollie planted on him!

The ride home about killed us. Ollie had had it! He screamed for an hour straight. We are nit talking a little fussing. We are talking all out traffic stopping, siren screeching wails. It was awful!

Playdates

Last week, we had two playdates, one on Thursday & one on Friday. Oliver loves babies! He wants to pet them, pull their hair & ears, scream in their faces & steL their toys! What a handful! He enjoyed his playdates but the other babies may not have as much. Where ever the other babies went, he went. Like his mama--right in the middle of everything. Here are some pictures. The first are of Connor who is 3 weeks younger than Oliver. The next are of Becton who is almost two months older.

Ollie meets the Chic fil-a Cow

Ollie spotted him from across the restaurant. Tall, spotted & handsome...not! It was so cute. Ollie about jumped out of Bob's arms to go to him...until the cow got close. Ha!

Dancing Baby

Ollie has recently learned some new tricks. The day he turned 10 months old, he started clapping and dancing. I think that he learned both of these tricks after his time at summer camp. He saw those kids grooving and clapping all week. The first time he danced was at O'Charleys. He heard the ice jingle in the water pitcher and he started shimmying. It was too funny. Every time we see him dance, we still laugh. What a sweety! Enjoy!

A walking update

Oliver does walk he just is choosy about it. I got him on tape today. Here you go!

Happy 4th of July!

Today was a very busy day for little Ollie. He has been so fussy that I was dreading it but he did fine until about 6.

At 3, we headed to a friends house for a pool party. Ollie loves the pool! We swam for an hour or so & then little man spent the next 30 or so minutes watching their dog run along the fence & bark. It fascinated him.

At 5, we headed to another friend's house for a pig picking (I know. I know. What is the world? It's a hog roast.) Ollie has a friend named Connor who is about his same age that lives there. Ollie was a wild man, walking around & pulling out the tiki torches. He hit me in the head twice! Turkey! Here are some pics:

What a day!

This morning was a nightmare! That Velcro on Oliver's diapers has become a bit worn. Because of this, sometimes they come undone. Here is the scenario:

Ollie, sporting only a diaper, crawls to the baby gate & stands up. He begins to slam it open & shut. "rrrrr," he gurgles and laughs. "splat," is the next sound I hear. I look over and see a small pile of poo on the lanolium.

"Ooo. Ooo. Ooo!" I yell running over to grab him. I pick him up & grab a paper towel to throw on the poo. I walk into the nursery and wipe him up. Noticing their are no diapers in the nursery, I walk out and let ollie stand by his activity center. As I'm cleaning up the poo, I hear, "ppppppp," and "plop!"

"Oh. Oh. No, no, no!" I frantically finish wiping the first mess just in time to see Ollie sit down & grab it. "Ollie!" the next thing I know the dogs are up on him like he's a steak. I tuck him under my arm trying to avoid the poo and yell, "outside!" at my poor dogs.

We got it cleaned up but man! What a day! Here are some pics (no poo involved).
