Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, we took Ollie to our community Easter Egg Hunt. They had a designated area for 3 & under. I was glad he didn't get pushed into the ground & trampled. He picked up 5 eggs & seemed to get that he needed to place them into his basket. After the hunt, he had a great time playing with the other kids while listening to his daddy & the praise band play great music.

Farm Days

I will have another D post but for now, I'd like to tell you about a really fun outing Ollie & I took with our MOPS group. We headed to the NC state agricultural farm for something called Farm Days. It was a blast.

We were able to see turkeys, rabbits, goats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses & baby chicks.

The baby chicks were out & Ollie was able to pick one up. He dropped it immediately & then tried to pick it up by it's neck. Poor dear! Luckily, he was not responsible for the deaths of any chicks!

Many of the other animals were in pens but students had them close to the fence. Ollie was able to pet a goat & a sheep. He wanted to climb into the pens with the other animals. Lucky for me, I'd brought his leash;-)

D

We took last week off because we were just too darn busy. We're back at it & Ollie loves it!
So far we've only done two days.

On Monday, I introduced the letter by giving him a big construction paper D. We glued on a duck head & legs. Then we decorated it with D stickers. Ollie loves ducks! This was his favorite so far. When he was done, he picked it up & made it dance while he sang. Too funny!

Yesterday, we had whole grain apple cinnamon Dcakes! I figured I needed to get in a few new recipes this month. They were delicious. Ollie got a kick out of them being in the shape of a letter.

We also have read books about dinosaurs & dragonflies, visited the ducks at the park & drawn pictures of D. I'm excited for the rest of the week!

Ollie has some BIG News!

He wants everyone to know that he is going to be a BIG BROTHER! The new baby is due October 19, 2010 & we couldn't be more excited. We had an ultrasound on Thursday and everything looks great. The heartbeat was 174 beats per minute. Maybe a girl this time??

By the way, his very talented daddy designed his awesome "Big Brother's Rock" t-shirt. Bob really wanted to travel back to 1984 to get it but since the ability to do so has not yet been discovered, he brought 1984 to us!

C

This week we learned about the letter C. It was a fabulously fun week! We started the week with the same project as last week. I figured he loved putting b stickers on the b so he'd love putting C stickers on the c. He did, though not as much.

For snack one day, Ollie ate ab adorable banana Car. The wheels are mini vanilla wafers. His favorite part was the Teddy Graham driver. Too fun!

We also played a game where I laid letters out in front of him & he picked the c. He liked this about three times! He did very well but the G was confused with the C.

We also painted a picture of a cat face. Ollie loves cats so I believe this was his favorite activity this week.

We also read books about crabs, clown fish & crocodiles. We drew Cs on paper & in the dirt with cat faces next to them. Everytime I draw a b, he wants me to draw a ball. Now everytime I draw a c, I have to draw a cat.

I did not get a video of him this week yet. He's napping. If I get a chance I may put one up. Hope you have a great week:-)

Finishing up B

Those who read my blog probably know that we spent this week learning the letter B. I'm proud to announce that Ollie can not only identify the letter be he can also make the sound! Way to go buddy!

We played a scavenger hunt like game where I hid (in rather obvious places) Bs. Ollie had a great time wandering around finding them. Each time he did, he'd start yelling, "B! B!" it was precious.

Today, Ollie made a bear face by gluing on the parts of the face to am outline. Now as you can see from the picture, the pieces aren't exactly in the right places but it's still super sweet. Now for any of you with toddlers, you probably have already realized that glue is not a good idea. I was super stoked when I found my old sticker maker from my scrapbooking days! Ollie put the bear parts on like stickers. Whoop!

We also spent time drawing the letter B with crayons or in the dirt outside, talking about words that start with B or pointing them out in books. We had a great week & I'm super proud of my little man!

Learning the letter B

So starting this week, we are learning a letter a week. This week is "b." Yesterday, he decorated a construction paper B with B stickers. He loved that activity. We frequently talk about the letter, while reading books, playing, walking, shopping...anytime we have inspiration.

I have a planned activity each day. Today, we blew bubbles & ate a "butterfly" for snack.

So far, he can identify the letter but he doesn't know the sound. He's a super smart boy; I'm excited to see all he learns. I'm loving teaching him!
