Pastor & Ollie

Ollie & I had a rough go of it today at work. He was a bit off. He barely slept & refused to be put down unless I let him "walk." The problem is that I can't work & let him hold my hands while walking around. Luckily I have the best Pastor in the world & he held Ollie a while. Aren't they cute in their matching shirts?

Happy 8 months!

My baby is eight months old today. Unfortunately, he had to spend the afternoon at the doctors because he's been rubbing his ear like mad. Turns out it's a virus. Give him some tylenol...urgh! I really hope he sleeps tonight. Anywho, here are some new pics.

As usual, Gertie is petrified of the camera!

Isn't that a cute butt?

Saturday Adventures

I had a fabulous weekend! It was hotter than you know where but we were smart enough to pick air conditioned entertainment. On Saturday, we headed to Raleigh and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (thanks Jim & Mel- still from Christmas!). Then we made our way to the NC Museum of Art. I love looking at art. It was a great time.

Ollie started to get a little fussy after about a half an hour. We went ahead and left. Bob wanted to go to Fat Sound Guitars and check out their Taylor selection. Since Ollie fell asleep in the car and he is now in his big boy seat, we were spared from the music shop and instead took a scenic tour of Cary. When we returned 35 minutes later, Bob got in the car empty handed but he's still dreaming!!

Miracles

I'm sure many of you have noticed my praying for Stellan & Jonah buttons on the sidebar of my blog. I've been following these two babies for a month or so now. It's heartbreaking! I'm currently holding my healthy 8 month old little boy & realizing what an amazing blessing he is. It's hard to understand why God allows such suffering & heartbreak. I guess we're not supposed to. A few years ago a song came out by Natalie Grant. The chorus went:

This is what it means to be held,
How it feels
when the sacred is torn from our lives & we survive
This is what it means to be loved & to know that when everything fell we'd be held.

God never promises he'll spare us from suffering & heartbreak. He promises his grace is enough & that he'll be right there with us when we suffer. It's a hard thing to swallow. We want God to bend to what we ask in prayer but he's bigger than that. As Shadrach, Meshach & Abedego stated moments before they were thrown into the furnance, Our God is big enough to save us but even if He chooses not to, He's still worthy. I just pray that if I ever have to be stripped of everything that I'll have the faith to realize that my God is enough. Hes given me grace & that is enough.

Please pray for Stellan & Jonah as well as baby rayne (www.caringbridge.com/visit/babyrayne).
God's still in the business of miracles & I'm hoping for three very specific ones!

Bob's Birthday Part 2

Bob and my best friend, Holly, have the same birthday so every year Jeff (her DH) & I plan an outing. This year we went to a fabulous little Chinese place called the Duck & Dumpling. I had Crispy Apple Chicken. Yum!

After dinner, we ventured to a dualing piano bar. Being that I don't drink & I hadn't experienced "the world" in a while, it was quite the experience. The music was good but we didn't stay long. Too smokey & too sleezy! Nonethless we were with good friends so it was wonderful!
