Yay for Ollie!
So guess who took his first steps tonight? I'll give you some hints: he's super cute & sweet, he's 9 months old, looks just like his daddy & loves to say "momomom." Give up?
He did! And he did it several times! The first time, he was walking around holding Bob's hands & Bob let go. He stood there for about 15 seconds & then took three or four steps! Later, he let go of the coffee table & walked to me! I'm excited for my big boy. He also is starting to discover a crawl/walk where he uses his feet & hands to move. I think 9 months might be his month. I'll get some video of him walking tomorrow. I need Bob here so one can tape & one can "spot."

Super Fun!!
This weekend was so much fun. Our friends from Des Moines, Angie & Mark were in the area for their nephew's graduation. We haven't seem them in at least three years.
We spent Saturday afternoon hanging out with them and their family in Fayetteville. Mark's brother has an in ground pool; Ollie got his first swimming experience. He loved it!
Then, Saturday evening, Pastor & Vanessa, also know as Paw-Paw & Nana 2, watched ollie. Aunt Mikaela was there to play too! Bob & I went out to a movie & dinner. We haven't been out alone since November! We've gone out a few times with other couples but not just the two of us.
Sunday, after church, we had a going away party for some friends at a Lake. Ollie got his first experience with sand and a lake. He had so much fun! He's such a sweet baby!

Cruising
Ollie doesn't crawl. I keep thinking he's going to but it just hasn't happened. He does, however, pull up and things and he cruises. This video was from about a week ago. I'm just slow. Today, he started moving from one object to another, couch to loveseat, coffee table to chair. It's exciting. i do wish he'd crawl but he seems to love to walk so whatever!

Busy, busy, busy
My weekend was slam packed. On Saturday, I hosted a baby shower for Renee. She is a wonderful friend who after a long road, is pregnant with her second child. She has a four year old boy and is now having a girl. Twelve ladies joined me to help celebrate the upcoming birth of Bella Grace.
Sunday, we had our annual Kids' Celebration service. As the children's director, this is like the Super Bowl to me. It's my opportunity to get the adults excited about our kids. We basically do Kid's Worship is "big" church. We make the adults participate too. So they had to do the actions for the verse, answer questions & build a snack. It was so much fun. Typically, we have a church picnic at the park but it was miserable out so we moved indoors.
We ended our busy weekend with a long family nap. We slept for darn near three hours! Can you believe it? Anyway, I have no pics of the weekend at home so I'll give you what you really want anyway.

Ollie Rides Horse!
Last Saturday, Ollie went to his first horse show. Bob's boss, Jimmy, has two daughters who both ride & compete. It was fun! Unfortunately, it so blasted hot here that we only stayed about twenty minutes. Jimmy's youngest daughter, Paige, really loves Ollie. She's always asking to hold him. She's the young gal in the picture. Anyway, enjoy!

As of today, my baby has been alive outside the womb longer than he was inside. Today he is 37 weeks. It seems impossible that it's been that long, yet it seems he has been part of our lives forever. It just goes so quickly.
We've definitely been changed. Our marriage has grown & we've both grown individually. Being a parent means sacrfice; you don't always get to do what you want to do. I can't just lay down when I'm tired or run an errand when it's convenient. I don't get a chance to read or chat on the phone as often. In order to be with Oliver constantly, financial sacrfices have to be made.I know the sacrifices have just begun, too. We will have to make many, many sacrifices to be sure our children have what they need. In the end though, it's all worth it. I'd miss a thousand lunch dates or give up a hundred pairs of jeans just to know I'd did what was best for my child. I now can appreciate my parents in a new way. Thanks Mom & Dad! I know you two probably sacrificed a lot for us.

Ollie loves to hear his Daddy sing and play guitar. Just recently Ollie has begun to sing along. It is so sweet.

Happy Mother's Day!
I had a nice long post & I lost it! Stupid phone. Anyway, I had a fabulous weekend filled with slobbery baby kisses, lunches, new clothes, & more. I got to buy Ollie a new carseat. I love it!
We also went guitar shopping. Bob finally bought his new Taylor! I'm so excited for him. He works so hard.

Visiting Friends
Today, Ollie and I went to visit some friends who have moved away. Some of you may remember Cade from a previous post. He was born 11 weeks early which happened to be the day after Ollie.
We had a great visit! Ollie is a very social baby. He tried to grab Cade & pull him to him for kisses. He tried sharing toys & taking them & he spent some time yelling in Cade's face (his version of talking). It was hilarious. But poor Cade was petrified! He screamed & cried. Ollie was just a bit too much.
Here are a few brief moments when Ollie wasn't scaring poor Cade.
